The race question Half and half
We asked USA TODAY readers who might be multiracial or biracial to describe how they answer the race question on government forms, such as the Census. Dozens replied, describing how they either check multiple boxes or write in their answers. Here is a sample of the responses.

Recently a friend sent me a survey from her social work class concerning race, I was suprised that the choices were the usual ethnicities and OTHER. I refuse to categorize my kids as "other" I suggested she recommend to her professor that "check all that apply" is a better option that having to categorize one's self as "other"

She was very cute. I understand her dilemma. My kids say the same things. My son recently came to a box that said "two or more". he checked that one, but he felt that was pretty ambiguous too. i don't know that there is a perfect answer.
